Birdies For The Brave Golf Tournament

HAWKINSVILLE, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT)- The Southern Hills Golf & Country Club held its Second Annual Heroes Invitational Golf Tournament today. The tournament benefits Birdies for the Brave, A PGA charity that aids service men and women who have been wounded or injured in the line of duty. More than 100 golfers participated in the Hawkinsville golf tournament to benefit wounded and injured service members.

Last year, 62 thousand dollars was raised for the wounded veteran organization. This year, four veterans were in the tournament.

“If every hometown course could hold an event to support military members and their families, we would be over run with funds and all the programs could be covered. So it is incredible what Oglethorpe Energy is doing with the Birdies from the Brave event,” said Veteran Steve Kupcha.

The tournament was sponsored by the state’s electric membership corporations. All the money raised will go to Birdies for the Brave.
