Woman Says Macon Officer Hit Her With Police Car
MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Macon police are investigating claims that an officer struck and woman and bicycle with a police car.
It happened Saturday afternoon on Churchill Street. Mary Mike, 53, said she overheard an argument between an officer and a neighborhood teen. According to Mike, she went outside to calm everyone down when she ended up on the wrong end of the investigaton and face-to-face with an officer.
“Me and him met eye to eye and when I turned my eye off of him and started walking you can hear him hit the gas,” Mike said.
Mike says the officer hit her while she was carrying her 3-year-old grand daughter. Mike’s son drove her to the hospital where she was treated for bruises to the hip and back. Her grand daughter has a swollen ankle. Macon Police have not released the officer’s name, but Mike says she knows the officer very well.
“I sit here where I’m sitting everyday and I see him ride up and down the street,” Mike said.
According to a Macon Police news release, investigators did not find any damage on the police car indicating the vehicle struck anyone. Mike claims she was hit and has the injuries to prove it.
“He hit a body, that’s probably why it didn’t appear he hit anybody. He hit a body,” Mike said.
Mike said she hasn’t heard from the Macon Police Department, Internal Affairs or the officer since Saturday’s accident.
41 NBC contacted Macon Police Department and Internal Affairs and have not heard back about the accident.
