Funeral Arrangements For Chairman of The Macon Water Authority Set For Tuesday
MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT)-Funeral arrangements have been made for longtime Chairman of the Macon Water Authority, Frank Amerson. Amerson passed away Friday night at the Medical Center of Central Georgia from an undisclosed illness. In 1976, Amerson started working for the Macon Water Authority. Since then, Amerson had received many awards.
Most recently, the Greater Macon Chamber of Commerce honored him with the prestigious 2012 Macon Citizen of the Year Award. In 2005, Amerson played a key role in the creation of a 180-acre public park now known as Amerson Water Works Park. Macon Water Authority Board Member Javors Lucas has known Amerson for 28 years. Lucas said it’s going to be hard to replace Amerson.
“The future plans will be to get someone else to chair that authority board, and that’s going to be hard to do. There are people out there that can do it, but they won’t find another Amerson,” said Lucas.
Visitation will be on Monday from 6:00p.m. until 8:00p.m. at Vineville United Methodist Church. The funeral will be on Tuesday at 3:00p.m. Vineville United Methodist Church is located at 2045 Vineville Avenue in Macon.
