UPDATE: 9th Grade Monroe County Student Focus of Investigation

FORSYTH, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – The Monroe County School District is investigating possible terroristic threats today.  According to a news release, the possible threat was against students, faculty, and staff.

School leaders were first made aware of the threat just before 3pm Monday afternoon.

The school district is not releasing any information at this time about the nature of the threat.


 

UPDATE from the Sheriff’s Office: The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office is conducting an investigation involving a 9th grade student in the Monroe County public school system. School officials contacted the Sheriff’s Office school resource officer yesterday afternoon and an investigation was initiated at that time. The incident, although involving a Monroe County student, did not directly involve the school.

Monroe County Sheriff’s Office investigators are investigating the incident and have contacted the Department of Juvenile Justice since the case involves a minor.

At this time no other information will be released and on camera interviews are not being conducted.
