Middle Georgia Veterans Receive Free Medical Services
MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT)- Today, dozens of Middle Georgians came together to help U.S. veterans. The event called “Stand Down” was held at the VFW in Macon. State Representative Dr. James Beverly along with several other organizations and volunteers played a vital role in making “Stand Down” a success. Free medical services, hair cuts, clothing, and sleeping bags were provided to hundreds of veterans.
“I got my teeth checked. I got my eyes checked. So, it is a whole lot of great things going on here today,” said Veteran Anthony Jennings.
“We are here to serve the veterans. I’m a veteran myself and have told the veterans anything we do for them can’t be too much because they’ve done so much for us,” said VFW Post Commander Lonnie Miley.
VFW Post Commander Lonnie Miley said he wants to thank all of the volunteers who helped. Miley also said he hopes “Stand Down” can become a yearly event to help veterans.
