Plans for Sgt. Rodney Davis’ Memorial Monument Move Forward

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) — Plans are underway to build a Memorial Monument in honor of fallen Marine Sgt. Rodney M. Davis. The 1-5 Vietnam Veterans and Macon Cemetery Preservation Corporation made the announcement during Saturday’s Rock ‘N Soul Benefit Show for Sgt. Davis.

Family, friends, and supporters came out to the event to hit the dance floor and participate in the silent auction.

Nicholas Warr with the 1-5 Vietnam Veterans said, “Everybody’s excited. We are just absolutely jazzed and blown away at the support we’ve had from the folks in Macon and from all the great things that are going on in this great city.”

The 1-5 Vietnam Veterans and Macon Cemetery Preservation Corporation exceeded their goal of $75,000.

Sponsors hope to have the monument complete for a dedication ceremony during Veteran’s Day Weekend in November.
