Former Bibb Chairman Passes Away at 74
MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – A former Bibb County Commission Chairman has passed away.
Bibb County Coroner Leon Jones confirmed Larry Justice passed away of natural causes Tuesday afternoon at the age of 74.
Justice served on the county commission for more than 30 years and served as chairman for his last 10 years on the board.
With Justice’s passing, current commissioner Joe Allen is now the last standing member from the board of five in 1989.
“He wanted Bibb County to be the best that it could be,” says Allen. It wasn’t something that he sat back and took very lightly. You don’t make much money being a commissioner, and a lot of times people get in there and want to be somebody just by being a commissioner. I did that when I became a commissioner, thinking I was gonna be somebody. That’s not what makes you who you are. It’s the type of person that you become once you get in there, and I hope that those four other men taught me enough where I can walk in their shoes.”
No funeral arrangements have been made yet, but Jones tells 41NBC Hart’s Mortuary will be handling the arrangements.
