Middle Georgia Billiards Team in Las Vegas for APA National Championships

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – There’s something in the pool at L&W Sports Bar in Macon.

No, this sports bar doesn’t have a swimming pool.

I’m talking about the pool team.  Four men and four women make up the bar’s team, which is competing in the American Pool Association National Championships in Las Vegas.

“There’s a lot of big names in pool out of Atlanta,” says Kevin West, co-captain of the team.  “There are a lot of big names, but this is a small town.  It’s a small city; Macon is a small place.  For a team to come from a place like this and make it to the big stage, and to hopefully win the big stage, that would mean a lot for middle Georgia.”

L&W’s was opened in 1977 by Will Hammock.  When he passed away, his kids, Amy and Wesley, kept the family tradition alive and started up a 9-ball team.
