Largest-Ever Class Set to Arrive at Mercer this Weekend

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – This weekend, members of the largest entering class in the history of Mercer University will start their college careers at the Macon campus.

Move-in day for the Bears is set for Saturday at the Macon campus, with events scheduled all through the afternoon, including a photo-op with parents and the Mercer mascots.

More than 650 freshmen and 125 transfer students can be a part of a class photo during the official welcome program, forming the letters M-U on the University Center’s arena floor.

Mercer’s annual fall convocation will be held on Monday at 2 p.m. at Willingham Auditorium.

Classes start on Tuesday.

Here’s the full schedule of the weekend’s events:

Saturday 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. : Move-In Day
Saturday 1:30 p.m. – 2:30 p.m. : Photo-Op with Toby and Tot
Saturday 2:30 p.m. – 3:30 p.m. : Official Welcome Program in Hawkins Arena

Sunday: Students will Spend Day with Orientation Groups
Sunday 6:30 p.m. : President Underwood Welcome Dinner for Student Athletes in Hawkins Arena
Sunday 8 p.m. – 10 p.m. : Street Carnival on Porter Patch

Monday 2 p.m. : Fall Convocation in Willingham Auditorium
Monday 4 p.m. : Bear Fair in University Center

Tuesday: Classes begin
