MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT)-Georgia’s tax-free holiday kicked off today, and shoppers here in Macon took full advantage of the back-to-school savings. Thousands of shoppers here in Georgia were looking to save money during the sales tax holiday weekend. Shoppers will be able to purchase clothing that cost 100 dollars or less, a computer a thousand dollars or less, and school supplies 20 dollars or less tax free.
“Looks like we are going to save about 200 dollars off of everything we are buying. Because we have to get a notebook, tablets, everything. So we are about 200 dollars into savings,”said shopper Don Howard.
There are certain items that do not qualify for the sales tax exemption including jewelry, Handbags, watches, and umbrellas. The sales tax holiday ends Saturday at midnight.
