Statewide EMA Test Held At Macon Centreplex
Macon,Georgia (41NBC/WMGT)- Georgia’s Emergency Management Agency held its Annual Mobile Communications Vehicle Exercise today. Emergency response agencies from all over the state participated in the training exercise aimed at testing communications capabilities. Mobile communications vehicles can be used during a major disaster like a tornado or earthquake.
When phone lines and internet access are down, mobile communications vehicles can be very useful. Last year, the Georgia Emergency Management Agency held 3 communications exercises just like this one.
“By doing this on a regular basis, it really provides the personnel enough time to get to know each other and to get to know their equipment,” said Nick Brown, Homeland Security.
“And that’s the key in any kind of emergency…is to be able to communicate with each other,” said Sgt. Richard Wolverton, Macon Police.
The Georgia Emergency Management Agency will hold another mobile communications vehicle exercise later this week in Atlanta.
