Attorney for Irwinton City Clerk Says “Client Is Innocent”

IRWINTON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – The attorney for the Irwinton City Clerk who faces felony theft charges, says his client has no knowledge of the missing city money.

City employee Roger Ford, and Irwinton City Clerk Lisa Brooks, were released on bond from the Wilkinson County Jail last night.

A discrepancy in the annual city audit prompted the Georgia Bureau of Investigations to take a closer look at the city workers. Brooks and street maintenance city employee, Ford were arrested. Each faces one count of felony theft by taking charges surrounding the missing city money.
