Alexander II Magnet School Named ‘School Of Excellence’

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Alexander II Magnet school gets some statewide attention Monday, as it is named a ‘School of Excellence.’

State School Superintendent, Dr. John Barge, and Bibb County School Superintendent, Dr. Romain Dallemand presented the award to the school. Alexander II is one of 26 schools statewide chosen as a School of Excellence. It was chosen because it is in the top 10 percent of schools in Georgia in both reading and mathematics.

“It should be a message to the community that the school is in, and to the rest of the state, that regardless of circumstances, regardless of all the things that are going on, with the economy and things like that, this is a high achieving school. The teachers here are getting things done,” Barge said.

Dr. Barge encouraged the students to be anything they wanted to be, and the teachers to not give up when things are tough.
