Local Youths Spend Spring Break Cleaning Up City

MACON,Georgia (41NBC/WMGt)-Some local youths in Macon are using their spring break to give back to the community. Several youth volunteers have been donating their time all week to clean up different parts of the city. This week, volunteers have helped clean up neighborhoods around different recreation centers including Memorial Gym, Freedom Park, The Rosa Jackson Center, and the Unionville area. Organizer Todd Davis says he wants to make this an annual event.

“Basically what started off this project was an idea to give kids a sense of pride in their community and also to give them something constructive to do over the spring break period,” said Organizer Todd Davis.

“Mr. Davis is a volunteer here, and he’s been a volunteer here for the last several years. He called us last week and wanted to partner up with us, and we thought it would be a great idea, since the kids were out for spring break, that we give back to the community because that’s what it’s all about giving back,” said Earnest Jolly, Program Coordinator at the Rosa Jackson Center.

Tomorrow volunteers will help clean up the Pleasant Hill Neighborhood. If you would like to volunteer, you can call Todd Davis at 478-338-2082
