MPD Welcomes Four New Members

FORSYTH, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Macon Police welcomed four new members to their department Friday.  They were joined by nearly 100 police officers and deputies from around the state at the Georgia Public Safety Training Center for graduation.

The new officers are excited to graduate from basic mandate training after weeks of hard work.

“It means a lot. Like I said, we’ve been here for 11 weeks, it’s the four of us from Macon, we’ve been in it an extra 10 weeks on top of that so we’ve been doing it quite a while so this means a lot to us,” said Officer Tyler Sluka, Macon Police Department.

Graduates from basic mandate training have completed all the formal classroom education to become an officer.  Now they’ll head to FTO (Field Training Officers) where they’ll rotate to three precincts in three months, gradually gaining more responsibility with each move.
