Georgia Tech Endures Spring Growing Pains

ATLANTA (AP) – Coach Paul Johnson isn’t surprised that Georgia Tech is enduring some growing pains in spring practice.

After watching the Yellow Jackets wear pads and hit each other for the first time this spring, Johnson sees plenty of areas for improvement to fix problems with ball security.

Quarterback-center exchanges were the biggest problem for the offense during Saturday’s three-hour practice at Bobby Dodd Stadium. Big plays hurt the defense.

Considering that Georgia Tech ended last season by losing five of its last seven games, Johnson doesn’t want his players to wait too long to correct their mistakes.

He was hardly pleased to see the ball on the ground “a zillion times,” but added that there’s enough to fix on every side to be concerned.”
