Strawberry Fields Across The State In Full Bloom
LIZELLA, Georgia-(41NBC/WMGT)-The warm winter and hot spring has caused strawberry fields across the state to be in full bloom. For 17 years, Elliot Farms in Lizella has been growing and selling strawberries. The owner of the farm says, since spring break, the farm has been busy with customers coming in to pick strawberries. Owner Debra Elliott says this is the earliest the strawberries have bloomed.
“We never had them come in early like this before. We just have had a very mild winter. I think our last little cold spell was around the first of February; and, after that, we really haven’t had any cold weather.”
The farm also sells onions and tomatoes. Elliot Farms also has blackberries which are blooming now. The berries should be ready for picking in May.
