Macon Landfill Upgrades Could Bring In More Money

Macon will borrow thousands of dollars from itself to make required upgrades at the landfill that will ultimately help collect more methane gas.

Council approved borrowing up to 450-thousand dollars from the Macon Water Authority’s closure fund to make necessary upgrades to the landfill’s methane gas collection system.

The landfill received a number of citations from the Environmental Protection Division in 2010 and 2011. Council members say these changes are mandated, but could help bring in more revenue from methane gas as well.
