A 9 Year Old Girl Living With Epilepsy Received A Special Surprise Today

WARNER ROBINS, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT)- A 9 year old girl living with Epilepsy received a special surprise today. The Milk-Bone brand is donating a service dog to help a Cochran girl who has seizures, sometimes on a daily basis. Nine -year-old Riley Edge lives with Epilepsy. It’s a disease that can cause unpredictable seizures.

When Riley’s family found out that they were getting a seizure response service dog, they were overcome with joy. It takes up to 2 years to train a service dog to be able to predict the onset of seizures.

“When she does have a seizure if she is by herself it will bark or come get us and let us know. It gives her a little bit of freedom and independence,” said Sasha Edge, Mother.

“When I found out that we were going to get a dog I was jumping up and down and I was so excited,” said Riley Edge.

Riley and her new best friend will have to attend a two week training camp at the canine assistants location in Alphareetta. Over the past 13 years the Milk Bone brand and their retail partners have donated hundreds of service dogs nationwide.
