Mother Arrested for Kidnapping Her 8-month-old Baby

EASTMAN, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT)- An 8-month-old baby abducted from a home in Milan, Georgia has been found. Eight-month-old Mathew Johnson and his mother, 20-year-old Taylor Maskill, were found today in Marshall County, Mississippi. An Amber Alert was issued Thursday and canceled this morning around 11:00am.

According to the GBI, the baby’s mother, Taylor, did not have parental rights to keep the child. Mathew’s grandparents have full custody. Taylor was traveling with Johnny Johnson when she was taken into custody.

Authorities say Johnson has arrest warrants in Dodge County and is under investigation for child molestation. Taylor is charged with kidnapping and interference with child custody. Both Johnson and Taylor are being held by authorities in Marshall County Mississippi.

The three were spotted by a state trooper in Mississippi this morning and were taken into custody.  The officer found the child on a pillow on the floor of the car when they were pulled over.

The Marshall County Sheriff’s Office tells 41NBC that the baby is doing fine and hasn’t cried once today.  An investigator from Mississippi plans to meet up with the child’s grandparents, who have legal custody, tonight in Birmingham, so they can be reunited.
