Spring Break Students Serve Lunch At Loaves And Fishes
MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Students on their spring break took time to help serve lunch to nearly 300 people at the Loaves and Fishes Ministry in Macon.
The 13th annual spring cookout is a part of the Mentor’s Project of Bibb county. The luncheon line was wrapped around the building, with people waiting to get a taste of some fried chicken, hamburgers, cake, and ice cream.
June O’Neal is the Executive Director of the Mentor’s Project. She says giving the students a chance to volunteer and serve is a great life lesson for them to learn from.
“These children have the opportunity to do community service, and have a great meal…and they’re doing something positive for somebody else here on spring break,” O’Neal says.
The kids in line were also given toys and an Easter basket to take home.
