MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Scattered showers are lingering in portions of East-Middle Georgia ahead of a frontal boundary. These showers are expected to remain light, although they Screenshot 2026 11 06 040554Screenshot 2026 11 06 040428Screenshot 2026 11 06 040442Screenshot 2026 11 06 040456

could produce as much as 0.5 inches of rainfall in areas where multiple showers move over a common location. Low pressure over the Northern Great Lakes will gradually work its way to the  southeast over the course of the day. As this occurs, troughing aloft and a surface cold front extending from the south of this low will clear Georgia to the east. Showers are expected to come to an end by the early afternoon. Cooler, drier northwesterly flow is working its way into portions of North Georgia in the wake of the front, which will be evident in the morning low temperatures.  Screenshot 2026 11 06 040519Screenshot 2026 11 06 040349

Lows in areas north of I-85 will start the day in the upper 40s to low 50s while areas to the south will be in the upper 50s to mid 60s. High temperatures this afternoon will largely be in the 70s, although are forecast to rise into the low 80s in areas of East-Middle Georgia where the front will be latest to arrive. These highs will be about 4 to 8 degrees above average areawide. The change in the airmass will become better established by Saturday as surface high pressure begins to build over the Eastern U.S. The influence of the high will lead to clearing skies and calm weather through the remainder of the short term period. Low temperatures on Saturday morning will range from near 40 in the highest elevations of far Northeast Georgia to the low 50s in East-Middle Georgia. High temperatures on Saturday will be in the mid to upper 60s in North Georgia and low 70s in Middle Georgia. With lighter winds and clear skies being favorable for strong radiational cooling, low temperatures will fall into the mid 30s to low 40s across the majority of the area. Locations at the highest elevations of far Northeast Georgia could further drop into the low 30s.
