Two California men dispute ICE accounts of separate vehicle incidents

(CNN)- Two incidents involving federal immigration enforcement vehicles in California are drawing scrutiny after men alleged they were injured during encounters with federal agents.
In Woodland, just outside Sacramento, Antonio Moreida received support from community members during a city council meeting after saying he was hospitalized following an encounter with an Immigration and Customs Enforcement vehicle Tuesday.
“I’m the one that got hit earlier by ICE,” Moreida said.
The Department of Homeland Security disputed his account, saying, “This is false. ICE did not hit a pedestrian.”
DHS claimed Moreida jumped onto the vehicle’s hood and that the driver applied the brakes. Woodland police said the driver immediately notified dispatch and cooperated with investigators.
The incident follows a separate encounter Saturday in Long Beach involving federal immigration agents. According to Long Beach Mayor Rex Richardson, Ricardo Gonzalez told officials he was a U.S. citizen.
“My arm is broken!” Gonzalez can be heard shouting in video of the incident.
Surveillance footage showed an unmarked SUV traveling the wrong way down a one-way street as a man on an electric bicycle entered the intersection. It remains unclear whether the two collided. An ICE spokesperson denied agents struck the bicyclist, instead claiming a man damaged the mirror of a government vehicle.
California Congressman Robert Garcia criticized the incident this week.
“The terror that happened in North Long Beach over the weekend is not welcome in our city or our community,” Garcia said.
The circumstances surrounding both encounters remain disputed.
