Cherry Blossom Festival Means Family, Food, and Busy Downtown

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Many people are focusing on the blooming of the cherry blossoms this week, but for some middle Georgians the festival reminds them to appreciate all that downtown Macon has to offer.

Just like the flowers, people pop up all over city to celebrate. Many say the simple things, like enjoying fun foods, and spending time with family are what this festival is all about it. Some say it’s exactly what downtown needs to bring life back to the streets after winter.

“The economic vitality is sort of sparked once again and there’s more interest. People will come downtown to shop and have dinner who otherwise would not consider doing so. So it does allow that aspect of it to linger,” says Macon resident, Reginald Bell.

Many say even after the pink flowers fade, the streets of downtown begin to fill up as people continue to enjoy the city’s attractions.
