MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Piedmont Macon is inviting community members to take charge of their health during a free Know Your Numbers screening event Thursday, October 22.

The event will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the ground-floor conference room at Macon Mall on Eisenhower Parkway. Doors will open at 9:30 a.m.

Keri Wilbur, a diabetes educator for Piedmont Macon, joined 41 Today to discuss the importance of preventive health screenings and what participants can expect.

Clinical staff will be available to provide blood pressure checks, blood sugar screenings and stroke assessments.

In addition to the screenings, the event will feature educational sessions covering heart health, high blood pressure, diabetes basics, diabetes management, stroke risks and early warning signs. Participants can also learn nutritional tips for managing chronic health conditions.

Wilbur said the goal is to help community members better understand their health and identify potential risk factors before serious complications develop.

For people already diagnosed with chronic conditions, the event will also provide information about understanding baseline numbers and target ranges for blood pressure and blood sugar.

Wilbur emphasized that knowing those numbers can help individuals recognize whether their conditions are improving, remaining stable or progressing.

“We strongly believe that knowledge is power when it comes to your wellness and your health journey,” Wilbur said.

The event is free and open to the community. Registration is requested, and lunch will be provided to registered participants.

Community members can register by visiting www.piedmont.org, selecting the Macon location and following the registration link.

Those who have questions or need assistance registering can call 478-663-9385.
