Macon-Bibb Fire Department hosts annual golf tournament benefiting Muscular Dystrophy Association
The tournament was held at Bowden Golf Course on Millerfield Road in Macon.

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) –The Macon-Bibb County Fire Department brought firefighters and community members together Friday for its annual golf tournament benefiting the Muscular Dystrophy Association.
The event featured friendly competition, cash prizes for first, second and third place, and a silent auction. The tournament supports the Muscular Dystrophy Association, which works with individuals and families affected by muscular dystrophy and other neuromuscular diseases.
Fire Chief Shane Edwards said the tournament is a longstanding tradition for the department, partly because some firefighters and their families have been personally affected by muscular dystrophy.
“We’ve actually had members in our department who have been touched by muscular dystrophy, along with their families and things like that. So, this is a long-standing tradition with the Macon-Bibb County Fire Department because family members have been affected by muscular dystrophy as well,” Edwards said.
Edwards said the tournament also brings together people outside the fire department who want to participate and support the cause.
The annual event gives the department an opportunity to continue its longstanding support of the Muscular Dystrophy Association while helping families facing the challenges associated with neuromuscular diseases.
