Peach Goes Back to 5 Day School Week
FORT VALLEY, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Peach County students will return to a five day school week at the start of the 2012/2013 school year.
Tonight, the school board voted 3-1 to accept the superintendent’s proposed calendar presented at last week’s work session. Board member, Ben McDaniel, was the only one against it. He says he’s nervous about funding the extra day. One parent tells us he wasn’t for or against the change.
“It’s something that worked well for our family. We enjoyed the four day, but I can understand that it doesn’t work well for a lot of families and you know we just want the best education for our kids,” says BJ Walker.
Chairman Jamie Johnson was absent from tonight’s meeting but he wrote a letter to the board voicing his support for the five day school week.
