Southside Worship to perform at Georgia National Fair October 11

The performance is free with fair admission.

PERRY, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) — Southside Worship will bring an evening of live music, praise and worship to the Georgia National Fair on Sunday, October 11.

The Middle Georgia worship group, part of Southside Church, will perform from 7 to 9 p.m. on the Georgia National Stage. The performance is free with Georgia National Fair admission.

Will Perez and Megan Regan with Southside Worship said the group has performed at the fair for several years and looks forward to returning.

“This is our seventh or eighth year now, I think, at the Georgia National Fair,” Perez said. “We are always just so privileged and excited to be asked back.”

Regan said performing at the fair gives the group an opportunity to share its faith in a setting where people may not expect to encounter worship music.

“The real reason that we’re there is we’re in an unexpected place, and we get to share the gospel with so many people who maybe have never heard the gospel before,” Regan said.

Regan has been with Southside for nearly five years. She said she grew up singing in church and previously pursued a career in country music before feeling called to full-time ministry.

She eventually joined Southside’s worship team and now performs during Sunday services, Celebrate Recovery gatherings on Thursdays and special events.

Perez said his connection to Southside goes back years. He met his wife at the church, the couple married there and he later returned to Warner Robins and Southside after serving in ministry elsewhere in Georgia.

“Music has always just been a part of my life,” Perez said. “When I decided to accept that call into ministry, God took us all over the state of Georgia, but we came home to Warner Robins to Southside because we felt like, just like Megan said, it was home.”

Fairgoers attending the performance can expect an energetic show rather than a traditional seated worship service.

Regan said middle and high school students often gather near the front of the stage during the group’s fair performances.

“You’re going to see a lot of upbeat, especially towards the beginning,” Regan said. “It’s going to be super hype. But after that, we’re literally just going to praise Jesus in that place and proclaim His name.”

Perez said the set will include a range of contemporary Christian music styles, including songs associated with artists such as Phil Wickham, Brandon Lake, Charity Gayle and Forrest Frank.

The group is also planning some surprises during the performance.

“Expect the unexpected because there’s always twists and turns at everything that we do,” Perez said.

Southside Worship performs from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday, October 11, on the Georgia National Stage at the Georgia National Fair. The performance is free with fair admission.
