24-year-old Tennille man dies after car crashes into tree, catches fire

GSP says a trooper responded to the area of Smith Street around 11:20 p.m. October 3 to investigate a single-vehicle crash with injuries.

TENNILLE, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) — A 24-year-old Tennille man died after his car struck a tree and caught fire late Saturday night, according to Georgia State Patrol.

GSP says a trooper responded to the area of Smith Street around 11:20 p.m. October 3 to investigate a single-vehicle crash with injuries.

According to the investigation, a Chevrolet Camaro driven by Clayton Williams was traveling north at a high rate of speed when it left the roadway and struck a tree head-on.

GSP says the Camaro caught fire after the crash, trapping Williams inside the vehicle.

Williams died from his injuries at the scene.

Georgia State Patrol is investigating the crash.
