3 Board Members Call for Investigation of Dr. Dallemand’s Spending
MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – After last night’s vote to approve the Macon Miracle, the three school board members in opposition made it clear they are not happy with the decision.
Gary Bechtel, Lynn Farmer, and Susan Sipe said they could not support a plan that didn’t spell out spending. In a statement addressing their concerns they’re calling for “a financial review by an outside law enforcement agency or the current School Board auditor to investigate the apparent spending excesses that occurred outside of compliance with the Georgia Financial Accounting Standards in the first 13 months of the superintendent’s tenure.”
After reviewing more than 1,000 pages of the superintendent’s spending over the last year, Gary Bechtel tells 41NBC he believes Dr. Dallemand’s travelling expenses totalled more than $60,000.
In the statement the board members address concerns about the plan in four areas of focus: student achievement, school safety, budget management, and community collarboration. They say these four areas were expected to be spelled out clearly as part of the strategic plan per the superintendent’s contract.
The statement says, “the strategic plan, presented in all of its glory, misses the mark on what the superintendent was asked to deliver as a result we were forced to vote no on the strategic plan.”
