Jones County Clean Air Will Lift Gas Restrictions By End of 2012

Leaders who are working to get the Environmental Protection Agency to lift the gas restrictions in Jones County are one step closer to lowering gas prices.

The Environmental Protection Division sent the county a letter stating they’re commissioning the EPA to take Jones County off the map of Atlanta region’s attainment area.

According to the EPA, this county adds to air pollution in Atlanta. They need to put additives in their gas that increase the price anywhere from 10 to 20 cents above surrounding counties. Now that Atlanta’s air quality is good, the county is hoping the prices decrease soon.

“What we want in this county is for it to end possible. We don’t want it to drag out,” says Jones County Commissioner, Tommy Robinson.

Commissioner Robinson says the EPA could lift the ban by the end of 2012. He says they plan to bring their case to Governor Nathan Deal to speed up the process.
