Warmer temperatures arrive by midweek

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – For Tuesday, the Nor’easter continues, northeast towards Nova Scotia while a ridge amplifies and moves over the eastern U.S.  After another crisp morning

with lows in the 50s, the influence of the ridge and mostly clear and sunny skies will lead to temperatures rising into the mid 80s across the majority of the region. Some areas of Middle Georgia can expect some temps to reach the low 90s. These highs will be about 5 to 8 degrees above daily averages. On Tuesday afternoon, the surface high associated with the ridge will move offshore. 

Southeasterly flow around the high will begin to pull in Atlantic moisture into East Middle Georgia. Recovery will be slow at first, with dewpoints remaining in the mid 40s to low 50s across all but East Middle Georgia in the afternoon. Relative Humidity values will once again need to be monitored for the development of Fire Danger conditions. The moist southeasterly flow will persist during the evening and overnight, with dewpoints returning to the 60s in areas south of I-85 later in the week. Temperatures in the upper 80s and lower 90s are expected for much of the coverage

area as high pressure begins to break down and winds become more southerly in the second half of the week. As we approach the weekend, the ridge will begin to break down and southerly flow begins to pull moisture back into the region. This will bring chances for thunderstorms back up to between 20 to 40 percent during the afternoon on Friday with more widespread thunderstorms likely through the weekend. Temperatures should remain moderate— in the upper 80s and lower 90s,  although that is still running 5 to 10 degrees above normal for this time of the year.
