A very Fall-like weekend ahead for Middle Georgia

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Pleasant Fall-like weather moves in through the start of the weekend across North and Middle Georgia. On the backside of a stacked low off the East Coast,

a very dry and relatively cool airmass spreads over the area within the northerly flow. Temperatures will be near normal for this time of the year however it will be the first notable cool-down since Spring, morning lows in the upper 50s to low 60s today, and low to mid 50s on Saturday, may feel chilly. High temperatures will climb to the mid to upper 70s today, 

and upper 70s to low 80s on Saturday. With mostly sunny skies, a light breeze, and dewpoints dropping to the 50s, you can’t ask for much better late September weather! Also, it’s worth mentioning that if you plan to get your Fall festivities on in the North Georgia mountains you may want to pack an extra layer, as these areas could see morning lows in the mid to upper 40s! Sunday and beyond, North and Middle Georgia will remain within the hold of northwesterly flow aloft, with weakening high pressure at the surface. Multiple rounds of extremely dry, Canadian air 

rotates around what remains of a potent Nor’easter and into the Southeast area. The combination of unusually dry air and subsidence from lingering high pressure will keep precipitation chances near zero through next week. Moderation of temperatures will occur as the airmass stagnates, with afternoon highs rising back into the 80s areawide—back to 5 to 10 degrees above  average by next Tuesday. Despite this, morning lows will be crisp and definitely Fall-like (finally), in the 50s to lower 60s for most.
