The Falcons Are Back…; Anyway, How ‘bout Them Dawgs?; Braves Still Battling

All right, let’s start with football, then get to baseball. First football. On Sunday, the Falcons started their 2026 season and they lost. They were awful. They have no quarterback. They had another defensive player Deshaun hand get hurt. He’s out for the year. They have to wait seven more games for James Pierce to get back. Jalen Walker won’t play the entire year and they have no quarterback.

The offense was weird probably because they have no quarterback. They didn’t really target Kyle Pitts, which was stupid after they get him a long term contract. That was weird. If they think they can get by with having Bijan Robinson account for 75 to 80% of the offense, that’s going to be tough, especially when you play a better team.

Pittsburgh not a very good team. Their quarterback’s older than I am and the Falcons don’t have a quarterback. Have I mentioned to you that the Atlanta Falcons do not have a quarterback? Cooper Rush was awful as expected to a ton. Below is on the sideline. He’s got an oblique issue. Michael Penix on the sideline. He’s got a mental issue.

He’s been cleared medically to play. So he has a mental hurdle to overcome to get back on the field. The Atlanta Falcons still have a quarterback George Bulldogs. Do they look really good winning 17 to 20 on Saturday. Let’s stop with the okay. Well they’re not playing anybody yet. They’re not playing anybody worth a toot. It’s western Kentucky.

It’s Tennessee State. All right I get it. I understand it’s going to be a little bit tougher this week when they get Arkansas to open SEC play. It’ll be a lot more tougher a lot tougher when they go and play Oklahoma next week at 330 in Athens. But don’t let the opponent try to diminish what Georgia looked like or what Georgia is.

I don’t care if they were playing Jones County. No offense. Jones County, Georgia is a great football team, great, deep and great and regardless of the competition, they have looked great so far this season. Well, they show it against an SEC opponent this week. I think they will. Well, they show it next week against another SEC opponent. I think they will.

Are they going to be perfect or are they going to go undefeated? I don’t think so because I don’t think anybody really can go undefeated these days. But you know what? Georgia’s going to be there at the end competing for a national championship. And in the first two weeks of scoring 133 points, don’t convince you. Neither will I.

Braves won 2 or 3 over the weekend from the Phillies. They are in good shape. The National Association of Vision. They have 12 games remaining and their lead in the National League East is five. So by winning that series, it kind of started to hammer that nail into the Phillies coffin. Brains played well. They had some good wins.

Of course, the extra in the win on on Friday night. The big win with the beginning of course on Saturday. It was just a really good weekend for the Braves with some decent starting pitching. And they really did their job. They could have won on Sunday, of course, but I will give the Phillies what will be a little bit lenient on them and give them one, but it doesn’t matter now.

The Braves go on to have two series on the road against two teams who right now are going to be in the playoffs as well. For Chicago, the first game that series starts tonight, lefty David Peterson will be on the mound for Chicago against Reynaldo Lopez for the Braves. The three game series starts tonight at Wrigley Field. Then they go to Houston for three this weekend before finishing it up next week at home against Cincinnati and then Miami.

So the Braves are in good shape. Five game lead with 12 to play over the Phillies. Still would love to catch the Dodgers. That number two seed of the National League. We’ll see if that is attainable for this Braves team. But hey they had a good weekend. They really did very very well. They’re comfortable right now with two weeks left the regular season.

And by the way did I say the Falcons don’t have a quarterback?
