Student accidentally hits teacher with vehicle at Mary Persons High School

FORSYTH, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) — A teacher was taken to a hospital Tuesday afternoon after being struck by a vehicle driven by a student in the parking lot at Mary Persons High School, according to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies responded to the school’s junior parking lot around 2:57 p.m. after receiving a report of an accident involving a student and a teacher.

Preliminary information indicates a student was driving a vehicle in the parking lot when they accidentally struck the teacher, according to the sheriff’s office.

The teacher was alert and conscious after the incident and complained of leg pain. The teacher was taken to a local hospital.

The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office said the incident remains in the preliminary stages of its investigation.
