BS Report: The Braves Are on a Roll
The Atlanta Braves actually have a game going on right now at Truist Park, a make up game against the San Francisco Giants. They started a little bit earlier than the normal start time, due to the fact the Braves have to get on a plane and go to Washington for a two game series that starts tomorrow. The Braves are on a roll.
They have had a great run with a seven game winning streak after losing those first two games in Milwaukee. They have won seven in a row. They have really played well and they got to feel good about their chances this week, where they got the game against San Francisco, a team that’s not very good. Two games against Washington team that’s not very good.
And then they go to Philadelphia, a team that is very good for a four game set kind of wrap around the weekend. And there’s no question that that’s going to be an important series. Even though the Phillies right now are four games back. Now of course that can change quickly. We saw that a couple of weeks ago when the lead shrunk, really kind of within a week and a half time.
So the race still have to be careful. They have a five game lead on the Phillies. Do you want to win the division. But they also are in contention for the best record in baseball.
Right now. The Braves are only three games back in Milwaukee. Brewers four that best record in baseball. But remember, if they get one of the top two records in the National League, they would have home field advantage in the first round, or at least throughout the playoffs, except for Milwaukee, if Milwaukee maintains that top spot.
But they would get a bye in that first round of the playoffs, and then the Dodgers would have to play in that first round if, in fact, Atlanta has a better record than Los Angeles. So that could be a very important part for this team. But right now the Braves
are playing great. And you got to give credit to the pitching staff, which continues to display very well pitched, very well.
Tyler Malley with another strong performance on Sunday. He has been great. There’s no question about that. In this seven game win streak for Atlanta over the last week, the Braves have an E.R.A of 2.55 with their starting rotation. So the six man arrangement that’s going on right now has worked out pretty well. And I think they’ll probably stay on that.
Give these pitchers a little bit extra rest as we go through these final 25 games of the season. Again, they have to be careful. The Braves still have games against a team that is chasing them seven games, as a matter of fact. So seven out of the 25 games are against the Philadelphia Phillies. They want to continue to play well, so they’re playing well at the end of September.
But as we enter the month of September, the Braves pitching has done very well. The hitting is still struggling a little bit. I mean, and look, we need to have a little bit of a disclaimer here. They have not been playing the best teams in the world here as of late. And that’s okay. You got to get rich off those bad teams.
Hopefully they can do it against San Francisco tonight and against the nationals the next two days. But there’s no question everybody’s going to be kind of pointing toward that series this weekend. And then next week against the Philadelphia Phillies.
