Man shot at Forsyth apartment complex

FORSYTH, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) — The Forsyth Police Department is investigating after a man was shot in the back following reports of multiple gunshots at an apartment complex Saturday night.

According to a news release from the Forsyth Police Department, officers were dispatched to Union Hill Apartments at 235 Union Hill Drive around 11:20 p.m. Saturday after receiving reports of multiple gunshots in the area.

While officers were responding, dispatchers received a second call from Monroe County Hospital reporting that a man with a gunshot wound to his back had arrived at the hospital and was acting irate, according to police.

Officers responded to the hospital and were able to calm the situation so the man could receive medical treatment.

Additional officers responded to Union Hill Apartments and secured the scene. Police said several firearm shell casings were found at the apartment complex.

Forsyth Police Department investigators responded to the scene and are being assisted by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation Crime Scene Unit.

The investigation remains active and ongoing. Police did not provide information about what led to the shooting or the man’s current condition.
