BS Report: A Big Hit and a Big Win; QB Questions for the Falcons

Well, a big win for the Braves on Tuesday night as they defeated the Los Angeles Dodgers 4 to 3. A big hit by Ozzie Albies in the eighth inning to give the Braves the lead and to hold on to it after a little bit of a scare there in the ninth inning, when Shohei Ohtani had a triple to lead off the ninth inning.

But Rasiel Iglesias did his job, got the three outs, and the Braves had the game one win over Los Angeles. I said on the radio show on Tuesday that it’s been a while since we’ve seen the Braves kind of have a big hit that we can remember, and they had one last night with a hit by Ozzie Albies to give them the lead and a subsequent victory over the Dodgers.

It was a big, big clutch hit for Atlanta and they really did need it. They needed to get this series off to a good start. They need to win the series and go back to doing just that, winning the series, which is something obviously they did not do against the Brewers over the weekend. So to have a win like that over the Dodgers in game one was very, very crucial.

Now they’ll have game two of the series tonight. Coming up, seven-thirty for the first pitch with AJ Smith-Shawver on the mound for Atlanta and other sports news in the state of Georgia. The Falcons announced today that Michael Penix will not play in the final game against the Dolphins. Coming up this weekend, a little bit of a surprise, I guess, and some that wanted to see what Penix would do with another opportunity.

And of course, the question is who’s going to start for the Falcons in game one against the Pittsburgh Steelers on September the 13th? Could it be two? A tongue of a lover who has not had a good camp or, very good preseason? Or could it be Tua , or rather, Michael Penix Jr, who has been, of course, injured, just got cleared the other day to go kind of full out with his football workouts.

Or could it be Jack Strand, an undrafted free agent that the Falcons got? He’s been very impressive so far in camp this year and was very good the other day against the Indianapolis Colts. The obvious final outcome is going to be it looks like that Penix is going to be the starter for this team, that that’s what the Falcons want.

But will he be ready to go on September the 13th, especially if he’s not playing in the game coming up on Friday? Well, if he’s not then one of the Falcons. Do they keep Tua Tagovailoa around even though he’s not been very good very productive so far in the camp. And at least let him start maybe one, maybe two games before throwing Penix out there in week number three.

Or do they release to a ton of Lola and go with Jac Strand and say, well, what do we got to lose? We got a tough schedule early on. No matter who’s playing quarterback and just see what strand can do before they turned the reins over to Michael Penix. So it’s going to be very interesting decision for the Falcons.

We would expect that after their final preseason game, they would make an announcement on the starting quarterback for week one because they’re going to kind of install the offense because two weeks from Sundays, the first week of the season. So we’ll see what happens with the Falcons. But Penix will not play in the game coming up on Friday against Miami.
