Morning Business Report: Walmart launches new fashion brand as Labor Day travel rush approaches
Walmart is making a new push to attract younger, style-conscious shoppers with a women’s fashion brand offering most items for less than $25.

(LILAMAX)- Walmart is making a new push to attract younger, style-conscious shoppers with a women’s fashion brand offering most items for less than $25.
The new brand, called Scenario, features a modern bohemian collection of clothing, shoes, jewelry, handbags and other accessories. The collection will be available at Walmart stores nationwide.
According to the Wall Street Journal, Scenario is designed to appeal to women around age 35 who are looking for trendier styles than Walmart’s existing brands traditionally offer.
Meanwhile, Dick’s Sporting Goods stock suffered its worst day on record Tuesday amid concerns surrounding its acquisition of Foot Locker. The footwear segment was the weakest part of the business, while shares of other athletic retailers including Nike, Deckers and Lululemon also fell.
Overall, stocks moved higher Tuesday as interest rates declined. Consumer confidence edged lower this month as gas prices increased.
Millions of Americans are also preparing to travel for Labor Day weekend, the unofficial end of summer and one of the year’s busiest travel periods.
AAA says about 61 million people plan to drive to their destinations over the holiday weekend. Safety experts are reminding motorists that heavier traffic can increase the risk of crashes involving impaired, distracted or drowsy driving.
A new survey also shows growing anxiety about the healthcare industry.
The PatientPoint and Talker Research survey found 43% of U.S. adults who visited a doctor within the past year reported increased anxiety about healthcare. Despite those concerns, 84% said they still trust their healthcare providers and the information they provide.
