Fire damages Dublin building, causes power outages near downtown
The fire was reported around 8:58 p.m. at 316 E. Jackson St.

DUBLIN, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) — Firefighters from multiple agencies responded to a building fire Wednesday night that caused power outages in areas near downtown Dublin.
The fire was reported around 8:58 p.m. at 316 E. Jackson St. The building was fully engulfed in flames when first responders arrived, according to the City of Dublin.
Dublin Fire, Laurens County Fire and East Dublin Fire responded, along with law enforcement, EMS and other first responders.
Firefighters contained the fire to the primary structure and protected neighboring properties.
Power connections near the fire were disconnected to protect first responders, causing outages in areas near downtown. Georgia Power began working to restore service where it was safe to do so.
The fire response came as Dublin’s water system continued recovering from a major water main break earlier this week. The city said the system was still being filled to restore normal water pressure.
Agencies from outside Laurens County, including Dodge State Prison, Wrightsville Fire, Johnson State Prison and Allentown, provided additional water and personnel to assist with the fire.
The city said water pressure remained at sufficient levels throughout Dublin during the response.
A boil water advisory remains in effect until further notice. According to the city, the fire and emergency response did not affect the status of the advisory.
The city did not provide information about injuries or the cause of the fire.
