Florida man identified after fatal I-475 pedestrian collision in Bibb County

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – A pedestrian who died after being struck by an 18-wheeler Wednesday morning on Interstate 475 has been identified, according to Bibb County Coroner Leon Jones

Jones identified the man as 29-year-old Charles Anthony Palmer of Ocala, Florida.

Jones says his family has been notified.

According to the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office, the collision happened just before 7 a.m. on I-475 South near the Zebulon Road exit.

A 53-year-old man driving an 18-wheeler struck Palmer as he was crossing the interstate while wearing dark clothing.

Deputies found Palmer unresponsive when they arrived at the scene.

Palmer was taken by ambulance to a local hospital, where medical staff pronounced him dead from his injuries.

The collision remains under investigation.
