Advanced Manufacturing Pathway launches for Macon students

Students at the Innovation and Technology Academy will receive hands-on technical training and connect with industry leaders before graduation.

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) — Macon officially launched the Advanced Manufacturing Pathway (AMP) program Monday morning, giving students at the Innovation and Technology Academy hands-on access to cutting-edge advanced manufacturing equipment.

The program is designed to prepare students for a high-demand field by developing practical technical skills while also connecting them with industry leaders as they approach graduation and the next phases of their lives.

Instructor Terry Nance said the program addresses a direct need from local employers who are looking for job-ready candidates with specialized knowledge.

“A lot of the industry — all of the industry in the area — needs highly technical people,” Nance said. “They need people that can walk in the door and understand what an HMI is, understand what a human machine interface is, understand what statistical process control is. Because it all determines the quality of the product.”
