(NBC)- A Marine veteran is facing federal firearms charges following a security scare outside President Donald Trump’s golf club near Los Angeles.

Authorities arrested 39-year-old Jeanine John Teale over the weekend, ahead of the president’s visit, after federal agents said he was seen taking photos and videos of the golf club.

According to charging documents, investigators found a pistol and a high-capacity magazine inside Teale’s vehicle. A search of his home allegedly uncovered an assault rifle, body armor and notebooks containing what authorities described as concerning statements.

A law enforcement official told NBC News that Teale is a disabled Marine veteran who has significant PTSD and other mental health issues.

Trump addressed the arrest, saying he takes some comfort in being told that “only consequential presidents” face such threats.

The incident comes after several previous security threats involving the president, including an armed suspect at a White House Correspondents’ Dinner security checkpoint, a rifle-wielding suspect near a golf course, and the shooting at a campaign rally in Butler.

Meanwhile, federal officials are also reviewing a close encounter involving Marine One and a commercial American Airlines flight.

The Federal Aviation Administration said there was a “momentary loss of separation” between the aircraft but emphasized that air traffic controllers remained in contact with both and that the president was never in danger.
