Trump honors fallen troops as Hegseth seeks billions for Iran war
As Trump vowed additional military action, U.S. forces launched another round of overnight strikes against Iranian targets.
(NBC)- President Donald Trump is scheduled to travel to Dover Air Force Base today to honor four American service members killed in recent attacks linked to Iran.
Among the fallen is Sgt. Michael Emmanuel Swinton, 30, who was killed in Iraq during an incident involving an Iranian drone. His wife remembered him as a devoted husband, father and leader who deeply cared about the soldiers under his command.
Also being honored are First Lt. Tyler James Feehan, 25, and Private Isabella Gonzalez, 19, who were killed in an Iranian attack on a U.S. base in Jordan. Feehan’s family said he was engaged and had looked forward to building a future after his military service.
The Pentagon also identified Sgt. Angel S. Rampersad, 28, as the service member who had been missing since the attack in Jordan. Officials now believe he was killed in action.

The conflict is also drawing increased scrutiny in Washington. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth told lawmakers the war has cost about $37.5 billion so far and requested nearly $70 billion in additional funding. However, three U.S. officials previously told NBC News that internal Pentagon estimates placed the potential cost of the conflict as high as $100 billion.
During a Senate hearing, lawmakers questioned the growing cost of the war as Congress continues debating future military funding and the administration’s long-term strategy.
