Doorbell cameras capture gunman firing through Las Vegas neighborhood

(NBC)- Doorbell and cellphone cameras captured terrifying moments as a gunman armed with what police say was an AR-15 fired multiple rounds through a North Las Vegas neighborhood, sending residents scrambling for cover.

Video shows the shirtless suspect walking through the neighborhood Sunday, pointing the rifle while moving from street to street. At one point, he knocked on a home’s front door before crouching on a porch and appearing to aim the weapon.

Resident Ryan Adams recorded part of the incident from inside his home before the gunman allegedly began firing in his direction. Adams warned his family to get down and take cover as shots rang out.

After the shooting, Adams discovered several bullets had struck his home, leaving visible holes in the walls and a bullet fragment lodged in the exterior.

Police responded with weapons drawn and ordered the suspect to the ground. Authorities said the man initially resisted officers’ attempts to take him into custody before eventually being apprehended. Police said the suspect became unresponsive after being taken into custody and was later pronounced dead at a hospital.

Investigators believe the suspect may have been impaired. Authorities have not released additional details about a possible motive.
