Highline Warren to Invest $170 million in McDonough logistics center

Governor Brian Kemp has announced that Highline Warren, a leading distributor of automotive aftermarket and cleaning products, will invest $170 million to establish a new logistics and operations center in McDonough. The 1.1 million-square-foot facility, located at 830 Highway 42 South (the former Zinus building), will create 160 new jobs. Once operational, it will support advanced logistics and deliver products to 95% of the United States within two days. The center is expected to open in late 2026, with hiring set to begin ahead of the launch.

 

Free business courses available through UGA SBDC

Entrepreneurs and small business owners have a new opportunity to build their skills—at no cost—thanks to the University of Georgia’s Small Business Development Center. The SBDC is currently offering several free courses both online and in person, including “How to Start a Business in Georgia” and “Writing a Business Plan.” 

 

Walmart expands skilled trades training in Georgia

Walmart is expanding its efforts to help associates move into higher-paying skilled trades with the opening of a new “Associate to Technician” training hub at the Tulsa Welding School in Decatur. This is Walmart’s fourth training hub nationwide and is designed to upskill employees in trades like HVAC, hydraulics, and plumbing. Over 600 associates have already transitioned into skilled trades through the program, which aims to train 4,000 associates by 2030. The new Atlanta-area hub will play a major role in reaching that goal.

 

New home healthcare business opens in Macon

A new business is now offering home healthcare services in Middle Georgia. “Right at Home- Macon” provides support to seniors and adults with disabilities, including companion care, personal care, specialty care, and respite support. The company serves Macon-Bibb County and nearby communities.

 

Middle Georgia products named finalists in statewide competition

The Georgia Chamber has announced the top four finalists in its “Coolest Thing Made in Georgia” competition. Two Middle Georgia businesses made the prestigious list: BrightFarms’ greenhouse-grown leafy greens and the Blue Bird Vision electric school bus. The other finalists are TifTuf drought-tolerant bermudagrass and ready-to-use therapeutic food. Voting is open until Thursday, July 16, at 9:00 a.m. at coolest-thing-made-in-ga.com.
