Peach County Schools Celebrate ?Dr. Seuss’s Birthday?
BYRON,Georgia(41NBC/WMGT)-Several Middle Georgia schools took part in today’s national reading initiative to celebrate Dr. Seuss’s birthday. Students at Byron Middle School spent the day reading at their desks, on the floor, or anywhere they could find a good seat to read their favorite book. The Peach County School System’s goal is to shatter the national one-day record for the Accelerated Reader Quiz.
“We got to read all day, and we get to take off our shoes and have fun,” said Bryon Middle School student Austin Smith.
“We are just excited about reading in Peach County. Of course, this has been one of our initiatives-reading and writing,” said Annette Ross, Curriculum & Instruction Teacher.
The reading initiative is designed to encourage reading and share a fun goal with students from coast to coast.
