Bibb Co. Parents Concerned About Student Safety In Wake of School Lockdowns, Chardon Shooting
MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – From a scare on a local high school campus, to a deadly school shooting in Ohio, there’s no denying student safety is an important conversation in Bibb County; but some parents worry that despite Bibb County School’s emergency response plans, there are not enough preventative measures.
“It appears most of the incidents are random and the students are turning them in but it still concerns you that the guns and weapons are getting inside the school property,” says Bibb County parent Kenneth Mallory.
Just last Friday, a handgun found on Central High School’s campus caused a code red lockdown–the following Monday, a deadly rampage rocked the small town of Chardon, Ohio.
David Gowan is Bibb County Schools Director of Risk Management, and he says the primary responsibility of prevention falls on parents.
