Bibb County deputy, driver injured in crash on Napier Avenue

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – A Bibb County Sheriff’s Office patrol vehicle and a passenger vehicle collided Sunday night at the intersection of Georgia 247 and Napier Avenue, sending both drivers to the hospital, according to the Georgia State Patrol.
The crash happened at about 9:53 p.m. on June 28. A Georgia State Patrol trooper was dispatched to investigate the crash involving injuries.
According to the preliminary investigation, a Bibb County Sheriff’s Office deputy was traveling south on Georgia 247 with the patrol vehicle’s emergency lights and siren activated while responding to a call for service.
As the deputy entered the intersection at Napier Avenue, the patrol vehicle collided with a passenger vehicle traveling east on Napier Avenue, according to the Georgia State Patrol.
Both drivers were injured and transported to Atrium Health for medical evaluation and treatment.
The crash remains under investigation by the Georgia State Patrol.
