Driver hospitalized after head-on crash in Monroe County

Deputies responded to the two-vehicle crash at approximately 11:16 a.m. on June 12.

MONROE COUNTY, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – A 52-year-old driver was seriously injured Friday after a head-on collision involving a box truck on Boxankle Road, according to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies responded to the two-vehicle crash at approximately 11:16 a.m. on June 12.

According to a preliminary investigation, a Nissan SUV traveling north on Boxankle Road crossed the centerline and collided head-on with a box truck after the driver experienced a medical emergency.

The driver of the Nissan was transported to a Macon hospital in serious condition.

The driver of the box truck was not injured.

The crash remains under investigation.
